Dr Małgorzata Bonikowska is a Polish scholar, think tanker, expert in international relations and European studies, university professor and media commentator. She is the President (since 2013) of the Centre for International Relations (www.csm.org.pl) - a leading Polish independent think tank in foreign affairs, as well as co-founder and President of the THINKTANK Leaders Hub (www.think-tank.pl) – network for managers and leaders from business and public administration. Moreover, she is a member of the Advisory Council to the Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the Polish Parliament, member of the Council of the National School for Public Administration (KSAP) and member of the Supervisory Board of Bank Millenium. Dr Bonikowska specializes in EU foreign policy and the European Global Agenda, with special attention to neighborhood and South Asia countries. She works as associate professor at and at Warsaw University Centre for Europe (www.ce.uw.edu.pl) and at Vistula University, department of Business Studies and International Relations. She is author of over 200 publications as well as tutor of over 150 MA and BA thesis. She frequently comments international affairs in the Polish and foreign media. She co-hosts a TV show “Warsaw Debates” at TVP World and co-produces documentary films (“From Dusk to Down”, “The most important thing”). Dr Bonikowska graduated from Warsaw University (neo-philology), Academy of Performing Arts in Warsaw (history of culture), Sorbonne University in Paris (history and European Studies). She was a visiting scholar at Political Sciences Department and School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) of Columbia University in New York under the umbrella of the Fulbright Program (1996-1997), implementing a special program of studies in government and public affairs. She completed two PhD programs – in Poland (Polish Academy of Sciences) and Italy (International Doctoral School, San Marino Republic). After working as a journalist in Polish Public Television (1995-1998), dr Bonikowska joined the Ministry of European Integration as Head of the European Information Centre as well as Adviser to the Minister (1998-2001) coordinating the network of the EU information centers in the country. In 2001-2007 she worked for the European Commission as expert and Director of the EU Information and Communication Program – first in Poland (3 years) and then in Bulgaria (3 years). In 2007-2017 she was senior advisor at the Centre for Human Resources Development under the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, being responsible for projects co-financed from the European Social Fund. She has been working as consultant and advisor to the Polish government (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Regional Development, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health) and as the EU expert in several EU projects in the Balkans. Dr Bonikowska is fluent in English, French and Italian, with good knowledge of Russian.
