George is the founder and CEO of George Capital Finance Solutions (George CFS), leading a team of Australia’s top finance experts to provide customized debt capital solutions for family businesses and individuals. His commitment to innovation and strategic growth has positioned George CFS as a key player in the financial landscape. Previously, George served as the Managing Director and CEO of the Bank of Queensland from September 2019 to December 2022. During his tenure, he executed a transformative acquisition of ME Bank for $1.35 billion, the largest in Australian banking since 2008. He expanded the bank’s lending book from $50 billion to $80 billion while enhancing customer advocacy and employee engagement, resulting in a significant share price increase after his final results presentation. Before BOQ, George was the Chief Executive of Westpac Group’s Consumer Bank, managing a $550 billion lending portfolio and overseeing over 10,000 employees. His banking career also includes running roles at St. George CEO and RAM Business and Private Bank and led Business & Private Banking National Australia Bank, (Australia’s largest Business Bank). George was a Partner at The Boston Consulting Group having worked in Sydney, London, South Korea and Auckland. George began his career as an Electronics Engineering Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, responsible for the F/A-18 Hornet fighter aircraft. He is also dedicated to community service, holding board positions with various organizations, including the Prime Minister’s Industry Advisory Committee on Veterans’ Employment. He currently is a Board Member of the Hellenic Initiative in the US and Australia. George holds an MBA from AGSM/Wharton and a Bachelor’s in Electronics Engineering (Honours).
