Mauro Testaverde is a Senior Economist in the Social Policy team of the World Bank, serving as migration focal point for the Europe and Central Asia region, based in Brussels. Mauro’s work focuses on migration, human capital development, and the interaction of education, human resource management, and labor market policies. For over ten years, Mauro has been leading World Bank teams providing technical, analytical and financial assistance in the areas of labor and migration policy in countries in Europe, Central and Southeast Asia. Mauro was part of the core team authoring the 2023 World Bank's World Development Report focused on migrants, refugees, and societies. Before joining the World Bank, Mauro was part of the migration research team at the University of Southampton (U.K.) where he earned a PhD in Economics and an MA in Econometrics.
