Christina Tsakona, Secretary General for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs at the Presidency of the Government. Christina Tsakona is Secretary General for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs and a lawyer at the Supreme Civil and Criminal Court, with extensive experience in legislative drafting and public governance. She is a graduate of the Law Department of the Democritus University of Thrace and holds an MSc in Law and Economics from the University of Piraeus. She has also completed the Professional Legislators Programme at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies of the University of London. She also served as Director of the Law-making Process at the Secretariat General for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs (2023-2024), where she was responsible for the legislative drafting of bills and regulatory acts of Government members and Deputy Ministers. Prior to this role, she was Head of Department B’ of the Directorate of Legislative Work (2021–2023), overseeing legislation under the jurisdiction of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs and the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice of the Hellenic Parliament. She also served as Special Adviser to the General Secretariat of the Government and subsequently to the Secretariat General for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs (2019–2021). Since October 2023, she has been a member of the Committee for Quality Evaluation of the Law-Making Process. She has also contributed as a trainer and coordinator in European initiatives aimed at strengthening regulatory governance, including projects implemented by Expertise France under the auspices of the Presidency of the Hellenic Republic. Earlier in her career, she worked as an advisor to the President of New Democracy (2015–2019), focusing on monitoring the 3rd Economic Adjustment Programme, and as a legal assistant at the Prime Minister’s private office (2012–2015), specializing in parliamentary control. She is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
