Danilo S. Furundžić (born 1980, Belgrade, Serbia) is a Serbian architect, urban planner and academic. He is an associate professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade. His work focuses on urban economics, infrastructure planning and spatial feasibility analysis. Education Furundžić completed Mathematical Grammar School in Belgrade. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade in 2004 as the top student of his generation. He obtained a Mastère Spécialisé degree in Industrial Engineering from École Centrale Paris (2006), where he studied project organisation in architectural practice. He received his PhD in Architecture and Urbanism from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade in 2017 with a dissertation on the economic evaluation of planned urban parameters in residential and mixed-use zones of Belgrade. The dissertation was awarded by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce as the best doctoral thesis in architecture in Serbia for the academic year 2016/2017. Academic career Furundžić has been teaching at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade since 2004, initially as a teaching associate and later as assistant and assistant professor. His research and teaching activities include: urban economics, spatial planning, infrastructure systems, feasibility and cost-effectiveness analysis. He has authored and co-authored scientific papers in international journals and conference proceedings, including publications in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, Urban Forestry & Urban Greening and Sustainability. He co-authored the monographs Infrastructure: Independent Railway System – Metro System – The Belgrade Metro Project and Infrastructure: Transport – The Future of Urban Transport. Professional career In professional practice Furundžić works in urban planning, development studies and investment consulting. He holds multiple professional engineering licences and is a court-appointed expert in architecture, urban planning and real-estate valuation. He worked in architectural and consulting firms in Belgrade, Paris and Kuwait, including Arte Charpentier (Paris) and Union Engineering Group (Kuwait City). From 2015 to 2019 he served as director of the public utility company JKP Kikinda, where he managed restructuring of the communal sector and infrastructure investment programmes. He has participated in the preparation of urban plans, development studies and infrastructure projects and served on planning commissions in several municipalities. Professional and public activities Furundžić is a member of professional architectural and planning associations and has participated in international research and development projects related to spatial planning and investment environment improvement. His projects have been exhibited at architectural and urban planning exhibitions, including the International Urban Planning Exhibition and the Balkan Architectural Biennale. He has appeared in media interviews discussing urban development, infrastructure investment and university asset management.
