Serhan Afacan is the Director of the Center for Iranian Studies in Ankara as well as Associate Professor at the Deparment of Political History and International Relations of the Midde East at the Institute of Middle East and Islamic Countries, Marmara University, Istanbul. His publications include Labour History and the Economy in Iran: Workers, Entrepreneurs and the State (co-edited with Mary Yoshinari, I.B. Tauris, 2025);“Men of Mission: Turkey’s Ambassadors to Iran in the Early Republican Period (1922–1938)” (Comparativ, 2023);“Iran’s Policy Towards South Caucasus’ (in Turkish) in 21. Yüzyılda Kafkasya (2022);“Iran’s Approach to the Arab Spring Between Selective Revisionism and Status Quo” (in Turkish), in Arap Devrimleri: Değişim ve Süreklilik (2021);“Iran’s Policy Toward the Central Asian Republics” (in Turkish), Türkiye Günlüğü (2021);and “The Concept of Islamic Republic in Iran: Before and After the Revolution,” in International Handbook of Contemporary Muslim Socio-Political Thought (2021). His research focuses on modern Iranian history and Iran’s domestic and foreign policies. He is proficient in English, Persian and Arabic.
