Professor Nikolaos F. Arkadopoulos was awarded his Medical Degree and Doctorate, both with distinction, from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He specialized in General Surgery at “Aretaieio” Hospital and pursued postgraduate training in the USA at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCLA School of Medicine. Following a long academic career through all ranks, in 2018 he was unanimously elected Professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and appointed Head of the 4th Department of Surgery at “Attikon” University Hospital. He specializes in oncologic surgery, where he has introduced innovative surgical methods and developed a substantial body of research work, reflected in 250 international publications, 400 conference presentations, and numerous book and chapter contributions. His work has been cited in over 4,000 international scientific references. He is a founding member of the Postgraduate Programme “MSc in Breast Diseases”. He has also held numerous key administrative positions at the School of Medicine NKUA and in major scientific societies, including: • Head of the Surgical Section, School of Medicine, NKUA (2019–2020) • Vice-Dean, School of Medicine, NKUA (2021–2023) • President of the University Hospitals “Aiginiteio” and “Aretaieio” (2021–2023) • Dean of the School of Medicine, NKUA (2023–present) • President of the Hellenic Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (2023–present) • Vice-President of the Athens Medical Society (2023–present) • Vice-President of the Board of Oncology, “Elpida” Children’s Hospital (2025–present) His spouse is Professor of Dermatology–Venereology at the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Elektra Nikolaidou, with whom he has two daughters.
