Eirini Gratsia was born in Athens and studied Archaeology and Art History at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She pursued postgraduate studies in Prehistoric Archaeology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and in the Protection of Monuments (School of Architecture, National Technical University of Athens). She has collaborated with public and private cultural institutions and organisations. In 2006, she co-founded MONUMENTA, and has coordinated its activities ever since. Her research and professional work focus on the recording and documentation of architectural heritage;the protection and management of monuments and cultural landscapes;the collection and preservation of oral histories and archival material relating to 19th- and early 20th-century buildings;and the ways in which local communities engage with and contribute to the preservation of monuments.
