Mette Kierkgaard is a Danish public-sector leader. She currently serves as Director of Senior and Social Services in Tønder Municipality, Denmark. From 2022 to 2026, she served as Denmark’s Minister for Senior Citizens, where she was closely involved in shaping and implementing major reforms of elderly care and the future of welfare services. Mette has extensive experience in public administration, leadership and social policy, with a particular focus on developing sustainable, high-quality public services and strengthening collaboration between citizens, professionals and public institutions. She holds a Cand.scient.soc degree in Social Sciences, PhD in Political Sociology, Master’s degree in Public Management and an Executive Board Education.
