Evangelos Kyriazopoulos is an Urban and Regional Development Economist and Secretary General for Spatial Planning and Urban Environment at the Ministry of Environment and Energy. He holds a degree from the Department of Urban and Regional Development at Panteion University. He earned a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University in Wales, and holds a Ph.D. from Panteion University, focusing on "Ports, Spatial Planning, and Regional Development." He has also conducted postdoctoral research in "Maritime Spatial Planning – Blue Growth." He possesses extensive teaching experience, having taught at the Hellenic Military Academy, Panteion University, the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, as well as in postgraduate programs at the University of Crete, Panteion University, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In his professional and political career, prior to assuming his duties at the Ministry of Environment and Energy, he served from 2019 to 2026 as Secretary General for Maritime Affairs and Ports at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy. He has also served as General Secretary of the Municipality of Galatsi, Special Scientific Advisor at the Directorate of Spatial Planning of the Ministry of Environment, and as an executive in the private sector within the shipping and finance industries. Concurrently, he has served as President of the Board of Directors of the Museum of Maritime Tradition and Vice President of the Maritime Museum of Greece.
