Sotiris Tsoukarelis is a founding member and Social Innovation Expert of the Social Cooperative Enterprise "Ta Psila Vouna" (The High Mountains Coop). He studied Political Science at the University of Crete, specializing in political philosophy and local development. He also attended the Metsovion Interdisciplinary Research Center of the National Technical University of Athens, focusing on the environment and development of mountainous areas. Since then, he has considered himself an activist for mountain regions, decentralization, and the agri-food sector. He participates in environmental movements dedicated to defending his local area and promotes alternative models of production and living based on cooperation, local community development, and connecting these communities with the global sphere. He is an active farmer, cultivating vegetables at an altitude of 1,000 meters on his model farm in Demati, Zagori. Furthermore, he has received training at the American Farm School in areas such as tourism experience creation, marketing, alternative tourism, and agritourism. He is also a dairy and cheese producer, having graduated from the Ioannina Dairy School. Sotiris is the President of the Union of Social and Solidarity Economy Entities of Epirus "Koino K.AL.O." (Common Good) and the Vice President for Ecosystem Development of the Panhellenic Confederation of Social and Solidarity Economy Entities "PA.S.E. K.AL.O".
