Özge Genç is a democratic governance expert with a demonstrated history of working in Turkey’s prominent think tanks (TESEV and PODEM) and international organisations (UNDP) . Currently, she is the Democracy Studies Director at the Reform Institute, a newly established research center in Turkey. She has ongoing experience in qualitative and quantitative research; writing in-depth analysis and policy reports; and undertaking extensive fieldworks in diverse geographies such as Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Europe.  She is skilled in Democratization and Reform, Justice and Security Reform, Police Reform, Human Rights, Minority Rights and Conflict Resolution / Transformation. She has 15 years experience in project and team management and advocacy in the NGO/think-tank sector and establishing dialogue and working channels with the government, parliament, political parties and security institutions in Turkey and domestic and international NGOs, media and business communities in Turkey and Europe. Between 2019-2021, she worked as a Senior Expert on Democratic Security Governance at UNDP for the “Improvement of Civilian Oversight of the Internal Security Forces in Turkey” Project. Prior to this position, she worked as the Democratisation Program Director at TESEV (www.tesev.org.tr) and the Research Director at PODEM (www.podem.org.tr).  She is a graduate of METU (B.Sc. International Relations) and SOAS, University of London (M.Sc. International Politics).
