Theocharis Grigoriadis

Theocharis N. Grigoriadis holds an LLB and an LLM from the University of Athens, an MA in Russian and East European Studies from Yale University, a PhD in Economics from Saint Petersburg State University and a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. As Professor of Economics at the Institute of East European Studies and the Economics Department at the Free University of Berlin, he concentrates in political economy, comparative economic systems and economic history. His recent papers and projects include the impact of imperial legacies on contemporary economic development, the role of migration, culture and population transfers on economic performance and political preferences as well as international and comparative monetary policy. His regional focus is on Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, while developing comparative research questions with the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa. He is currently a Mercator-IPC Fellow at Istanbul Policy Center and Sabanci University (2021-22).
