Professor on Personal Data Protection Law, Faculty of Law & Criminology of the Free University of Brussels, Greece

I am a Professor on Personal Data Protection Law at the Faculty of Law & Criminology of the Free University of Brussels (VUB, Vrije Universiteit Brussel), focusing also on Cybersecurity, Intellectual Property, and the broader topic of technology regulation. I work though the Cyber and Data Security Lab (CDSL), where I am its scientific coordinator, as well as through VUB’s Research Group on Law Science Technology & Society (LSTS) and the Brussels Privacy Hub. In addition, through  MPlegal, a niche technology law firm, I practice business law with a particular emphasis on startups and mid-size companies on all of the above fields of law. It is in this context, after all, that I also teach “Entrepreneurship” at the MBA Programme of the University of the Aegean. I am also the DPO (Data Protection Officer) of New Democracy, the centre-right (governing) party in Greece. From 2016 to 2021 I have been a member (alternate) of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority; In the past, I have been a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Copyright Organisation (for two terms).
