Prodromos Tsiavos, Director, Institute of Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation, Greece

Prodromos is the Head of Digital Development and Innovation at the Onassis Group. He is currently teaching and researching Legal and Ethical Aspects of Data Science at the Athens University of Economics and Business and is a research fellow at The Media Institute (TMI). Prodromos has worked for the National Hellenic Research Foundation (National Documentation Centre), the European Commission, Oslo University and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He read law and Information Systems in Athens (Athens Law School) and London (Queen Mary, LSE) and holds a PhD in Law and Information Systems from the LSE. Prodromos has worked as an adviser on issues of IPR and innovation for the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, the Special Secretary for Digital Convergence, as well as public sector bodies and private companies in the cultural and creative industries. He has served as the Chair of the Administrative Council of the Greek Industrial Property Organisation (OBI), has founded the Hellenic Industrial Property Academy and has served as Chair of the Supervisory Board of the European Patent Academy (EPA). Prodromos has been an IPR and innovation consultant for multiple Greek and European Museums, Libraries, Archives, e-infrastructures and research infrastructures, and has led the setting up of the OpenAIRE LE, CLARIN, META-SHARE, DARIAH, HELIX (Greek Digital Infrastructure for Research) infrastructures. He has over 150 publications and talks on legal and business aspects of active archives, open technologies, digital content, algorithmic ethics and IPR and innovation policy and strategy. Prodromos is the director of the Institute of IPR and Innovation at EPLO and a senior policy advisor at Athena Research Centre and OpenAIRE.
