Giorgos Tsipras

MP, Hellenic Parliament

George Tsipras was born in Athens in 1966 and he is a father of two children. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and worked as an engineer in the private sector. Since 1990’s he has published numerous articles related to economic issues, foreign policy and international affairs. He has been a Member of the Syriza government. He was appointed Secretary General of International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2015-2017). Subsequently he served as the Director of the Prime Minister's Office of Economic Affairs (2017-2019). George Tsipras was elected to Parliament as a Syriza MP  for West Attica in the 2019 general election. From July 2019 he has served in Syriza PA's shadow cabinet, first as  deputy shadow Minister of Economy, and then as deputy shadow minister of Defence. He is a member of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs and a member of Special Standing Committee on Armament Programs and Contracts. He is also a mebmer in the Greece-United Arab Emirates, Greece-Spain and Greece-Serbia Friendship Groups of the Greek Parliament.
