Dr. Rolf Perikles Nagel is a venture capitalist and founder of Munich Venture Partners in Germany. The fund focuses on breakthrough technologies, which enable a significant environmental impact. MVP became known for investments in companies like Sonnen-Battery (Shell), Relayr-IoT software (MunichRE), Electrochaea Power-to-Gas or Novihum Permanent soil-humus concentrate. Rolf is on the Board of Novihum and Silicon Line. Prior to co-founding MVP, Rolf was Partner at Star Ventures, a leading international VC firm in Munich and Tel Aviv, for more than ten years, enabling success stories such as Medigene, Sequenom, Ciena, Floware, RF Micro Devices and Capstone (all of them going public in NY or Frankfurt). Prior to Star Ventures, he was Investment Manager at the Deutsche Bank investment arm DBG and before that a CEO of Vialog Automation, an electronics startup (acquired by Walter AG). Rolf completed a Doctorate in Business Economics at the University of Cologne, Germany, a scholoarship at MIT Sloan School and an MBA at WHU Germany. From 2016-2020 he was on the Governing Board of the EIT European Institute of Innovation and Technology, which is part of the EU Commission. He is member of the innovation and technology council of the State of Brandenburg and a jury member of the energy transition startup competition of Germany’s national energy agency DENA in Berlin. Rolf has Greek ancestors and enjoys going skiing and hiking with his family.
