Gabriel Oniscu is President-Elect of the European Society for Organ Transplantation and Transplant Advisor to the Chief Medical Officer in Scotland. He is a consultant transplant surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Honorary Reader at the University of Edinburgh. He has been involved in defining priorities for transplantation at European level as part of the European Kidney Health Alliance and EDQM Guide to the quality and safety of organs for transplantation. He is also leading the working group responsible for the development of the ESOT European Registries. His research activity has a particular focus on equity of access to transplantation and transplant outcomes, organ perfusion and reconditioning and optical sensing. He has published over 100 papers, 15 book chapters, edited two books and had over £5 million in research funding.
