Stelios Kympouropoulos has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament (European People's Party Group) since 2019.  He is a Member of the Committees on Employment and Social Affairs and Petitions, as well as Substitute of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. He is also a Substitute in the Subcommittee on Human Rights, Co-Chair of the European Parliament’s Disability Intergroup and EPP Group Coordinator in the Special Committee on the COVID-19 pandemic: lessons learned and recommendations for the future (COVI). A psychiatrist by training, prior to joining the European Parliament, he worked as Head of the Sexual Functions Clinic at the University General Hospital “Attikon”. He is also a social activist and co-founder of the Independent Living Organization of Greece - i-living, the first organization that promotes Independent Living in Greece. He holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Promotion and Prevention of Psychiatric Disorders, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree from the School of Medicine of the University of Athens.
