Ο Σοφοκλής Γιαννακού γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα και έχει ζήσει επίσης στη Φραγκφούρτη της Γερμανίας. Σπούδασε Χρηματοοικονομική και Τραπεζική Διοικητική στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Πειραιά. Κατέχει Μεταπτυχιακό στη Λογιστική και το Φορολογικό Δίκαιο από το Πανεπιστήμιο των Αθηνών και είναι Ορκωτός Λογιστής και Fellow Member της ένωσης του Σώματος Ορκωτών Ελεγκτών/Λογιστής του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants-ACCA). Ο Σοφοκλής Γιαννακού έχει εργαστεί στη Γενική Τράπεζα της Ελλάδας (Dealing Room) και στον κλάδο της ναυτιλίας κατά τη διάρκεια των σπουδών του. Στη συνέχεια εργάστηκε στην KPMG (1996-2006) ως Διευθυντής του Συμβουλευτικού Κλάδου για θέματα Στρατηγικής, Χρηματοοικονομικής Διοίκησης και Συγχωνεύσεων και Εξαγορών. Μετά από την KPMG, εργάστηκε για τη British American Tobacco Hellas A.E. (2006-2009) ως Financial Accounting and Tax Manager και Marketing Finance Manager. Προσλήφθηκε το 2009 στην ΑΒ Βασιλόπουλος ως Group Finance Director, αμέσως προήχθη σε CFO της ΑΒ Βασιλόπουλος και στη συνέχεια διετέλεσε για 5 έτη ως Chief Financial Officer South-Eastern Europe με ευθύνη για Ελλάδα, Σερβία, Ρουμανία και Αλβανία. Σήμερα κατέχει τη θέση του Προέδρου του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της ΑΒ Βασιλόπουλος και άλλων εταιρειών, ενώ αποτελεί μέλος της Εκτελεστικής Επιτροπής και Chief Financial Officer. Ο κύριος Γιαννακου είναι και μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της Public Media-Markt, ενώ ταυτόχρονα διατελεί και Πρόεδρος της Ελεγκτικής Επιτροπής (Audit Committee). Mr Sofoklis Yiannacou was born in Athens and has lived in Frankfurt, Germany. He studied Financial & Banking Management in the University of Piraeus. He holds a master’s degree in Accounting & Tax law from the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant in the United Kingdom (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants-ACCA). He has worked for the Geniki Bank of Greece (Societe Generale) in the Dealing Room and also in the shipping industry during his studies. He then worked for KPMG (1996-2006) as Senior Manager in the areas of Strategy, Corporate Finance & Merger and Acquisitions. He then moved to British American Group (2006-2009) where he held the titles of Financial Accounting and Tax Manager and Marketing Finance Manager. He joined AB Vassilopoulos in 2009 as Group Finance Director, immediately promoted to CFO and for the next 5 years he was assigned the role of Chief Financial Officer for Southeast Europe being responsible for Greece, Serbia, Romania and Albania. Today he holds the position of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AB Vassilopoulos while he is also a member of the Executive Committee as a CFO. Mr Yiannacou is also member of the Board of Directors of Public Media-Markt where he also holds the position of the Chairman of the Audit Committee.
