He is a Graduate of the Athens University Medical School where he completed his Ph.D thesis. Since 2003 he is the Director of the Department of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation at “Laiko” General Hospital. He served as the Chief Medical officer of the hospital (2005-2020). In 2013, he was named Professor of Ιnternal Medicine and Nephrology of the University of Athens Medical School. He served as Director of Internal Medicine Department of the University (2017-2019). From Octomber 2019, he was appointed President of the board of administration of Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center. He participates in international working groups in the field of autoimmune diseases, and kidney transplantation. He is also a reviewer and member of the editorial committee of Greek and International Nephrology journals. He has been elected President of ESOT Conference 2023 which will take place in Athens. He has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in international medical journals and a large number of papers in Greek and international conferences.
