Thanos Petralias

Secretary General for Fiscal Policy, Ministry of Finance, Greece

Thanos Petralias is appointed, since 2019, as Secretary General for Fiscal Policy in the Greek Ministry of Finance, responsible for the State Budget and the General Accounting Office. He is also president of the board of directors of the Public Debt Management Agency and president of the state guarantees’ committee. He holds a PhD in Statistics and a BSc and MSc in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and has completed two postdoctoral research programmes. For more than a decade has been teaching in graduate and postgraduate programs of AUEB and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has worked as scientific associate in research institutes and public organizations, such as the Centre of Planning and Economic Research and the Ministry of Development. During 2012-2014 he was member of the technical teams for negotiation with the EU Institutions and during the period 2016-2019 he was appointed as scientific personnel in the Bank of Greece. He has numerous first class scientific publications, books and studies in the fields of Economics, Finance, Statistics, Econometrics, as well as in Migration and Public Health.
