Bruce Clark is a writer for the Economist on history, culture and ideas. He has worked as a foreign correspondent in Paris, Athens, Washington and Moscow. His previous posts have included: diplomatic correspondent for the Financial Times, Moscow correspondent for The Times, and editor of the international news section at the Economist. His latest book, a history of Greece's capital, is entitled "Athens, City of Wisdom". He has been an active participant in the environmental activities of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, including symposia in Brazil, Greenland and New Orleans.
