Dimitris Bourantonis is Rector of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He is Professor of Political Science at the Department of International and European Εconomic Studies, at AUEB. He was the holder of the Jean Monnet Chair on The EU as a Diplomatic and Security Actor (2015-2018) and served as Academic Director for the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (2017-2020), AUEB. He holds a Political Science Degree and a Law Degree from the University of Athens and a Ph.D from the University of Reading, UK. His research concern analysis of international institutions, foreign policy, theory and practice of international negotiations. He is the author of three books (Chairing Multilateral Negotiations, Routledge, 2011; The History and Politics of UN Security Council Reform, Routledge, 2005; The United Nations and the Quest for Nuclear Disarmament, Darmouth, 1993). He has also co-edited five collective volumes (The EU and the non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Palgrave 2015; the EU Presence in International Organizations, Routledge 2010; Multilateralism and Security Institutions, Routledge, 2008; A United Nations for the 21st Century, Kluwer, 1996, The United Nations in the New World Order, Macmillan, 1995). He has published a large number of articles in academic journals (Government and Opposition, Review of International Studies, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of European Integration, Cooperation and Conflict, British Journal of Politics and International Relations, International Politics, Politics, etc.) He has also contributed to a large number of collective volumes including the Routledge Handbook of International Organization, the Routledge Handbook on the European Union and International Institutions, the Handbook on Security and Governance and the Oxford Encyclopedia of Foreign Policy Analysis.
