Dr. Stavros Siokos is a Co-Founder, Managing Partner and Member of the Investment Committee at Astarte Capital Partners. Dr. Siokos has 30 years of experience in building and managing businesses in various areas of Capital Markets, Asset Management and Alternative Investments. He co-founded Astarte in 2015, and since then he has been instrumental in developing and growing a number of private markets asset management businesses predominantly focusing on real assets. Astarte is an asset manager focusing on sustainable real assets across Europe and North America, primarily in mid-market opportunities within the areas of infrastructure, energy transition and natural capital. Astarte’s main investment strategy is to act as strategic investor and anchor capital to emerging managers and thematic investment platforms that can demonstrate strong track record and growth potential in their specific asset class. ESG is core to Astarte’s investment approach and is fully integrated as a comprehensive and proactive framework to assess, create and measure impact across the portfolio. At Astarte, he is primarily responsible for strategic business development across all markets and investor reach. Previously he was CEO of a boutique alternative asset management firm, leading the development and growth of a number of real assets strategies focusing on thematic transportation strategies as well as the investments in a number of liquid strategies. Preceding the development and growth of these asset management firms to multi-billion enterprises, he was head of Asset Management for Piraeus Group, co-leading the Private Equity team that launched three funds in the energy and growth equity sectors. Before Piraeus, he was Managing Director at Citigroup for 13 years where he was global head of alternative executions, portfolio trading strategies and pension fund solutions. He started his non-academic career in the early 90s as a member of the equities quantitative team of Solomon Brothers in New York and London. He is the author to a number of books and academic papers related to finance, engineering and mathematics. Dr. Siokos holds an Electrical and Computer Engineering Diploma from the University of Patras, Greece, a MSc in the same field and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Massachusetts.
