Dimitri A. Sotiropoulos

Professor of Political Science at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, University of Athens, Greece

Dimitri A. Sotiropoulos is Professor of Political Science at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Senior Research Fellow at the ELIAMEP research foundation (Athens).  He has studied law, sociology and political science at the Law School of the University of Athens (LLB), the London School of Economics (MSc) and Yale University (MA, M.Phil. and Ph.D., awarded with distinction, 1991). He has been Visiting Fellow at the Hellenic Observatory of the London School of Economics (2003), the Centre for European Studies, St. Antony’s College, Oxford (2009-2010), the “Sciences Po”, Paris (autumn 2016), Harvard’s Center for European Studies (2018-2019) and Princeton’s Center for Hellenic Studies (summer 2019). Ιn 1995 he was visiting professor at the Juan March Institute (Madrid) and in 2018-2019 at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts University). He serves on the editorial board of South European Society and Politics, Journal of Mediterranean Politics, Southeast European and Black Sea Studies. His publications are on democratization, public administration, civil society and the welfare state. He has published eight books, co-edited eight volumes and numerous articles in international academic journals and in the Greek newspapers To Vima and Kathimerini.
