Napoleon Maravegias

Napoleon Maravegias was born in 1955. He studied Economics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He continued his studies at the University of Grenoble (France) where he obtained a D.E.A and a Doctorat d’ Etat with Summa Cum Laude (1983), funded by Scholarships from the Agricultural Bank of Greece and the Onassis Foundation. Since 2000, he has been full professor at the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he served as Deputy President from 2006 to 2008. From 1999 to 2004 he was President of the National Agricultural Research Foundation (NAGREF) and from 2003 to 2004 he was the Greek representative το the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM). In 2006, 2009 and 2012 he was President of the Hellenic University Association for European Studies (EPEES). From 2010 to 2015 he has been President of the governing board of the Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands and Vice President at the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence of the University of Athens He served as Minister of Rural Development and Food in the Greek Government of 2012. From 2015 to 2019 he has been Vice-Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, From 2013 until now he is Member of the Scientific Comity of the Hellenic Parliamentary Budget Office He has taught at the Universities of Grenoble, Montpelier, Oxford, Paris and Budapest. Napoleon Maravegias has written monographs, studies and reports of research projects and has published a large number of papers in Greek and international academic journals on European Economy and Politics
