His Grace Bishop Christophoros of Karpasia

The Bishop of Karpasia Christophoros was born on the 5th of April 1964 at Peledri village in Limassol. After his graduation from Polemidia Lyceum and the completion of his military service he began studying at the Theological School of the University of Athens, from which he graduated in July 1988. In 1990 he received the first clergy degree and in 1991 he ordinated to priest and Archimandrite. From then he belongs to the Brotherhood of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Trooditissa.

From August 1992 until June 1995, he attended postgraduate studies on Patrology at Durham University of Great Britain where he submitted a thesis on ‘Orthodoxia and Heresis according to Saint Epiphanius’. On the 22nd of May 2007 the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus with a homophone decision elected him as the first Bishop of the re-established Bishopric of Karpasia.

His ordination to a Bishop was granted from his Beatitude Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos B’ on the 3rd of June 2007.
