Maria Boyadjiyska graduated with a master's degree in biology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and has a master's degree in "Business Administration and Economics" from the University of Sheffield (Great Britain).

In the period 2000-2005 she was an expert in the "Environmental Impact Assessment and Complex Permits, Pollution Prevention and Control" department at the Ministry of Environment and Water.

From 2006 to 2016, she was deputy mayor in the Sofia Municipality in the direction of "Environment".

In recent years, Maria Boyadzhiyska worked as an expert at the World Bank and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
